After over a year of hard work, figuring out how best to share Multiplayer Meditation with the world, our team at Interbeing Inc has launched a public prototype called Meditatewith.ai. The purpose of this prototype is to test out the viability of meditating out-loud with an AI system as your initial training partner.
Meditatewith.ai is central to our broader strategy of scaling up, because while social meditation methods are extremely powerful, they’re much harder to pick up and do (at least initially) than guided meditations, since they involve more human coordination & social risk.
Once people have learned how to meditate out-loud with an AI partner we believe that they’ll then be more ready to practice with other humans, since they’ll have the basic instructions down. It’s challenging to learn such an intimate method, especially when you’re learning in public.
When combined with an audio-only delivery model–which further reduces overall social risk–we believe that an AI-first training system is the most effective way to leap over the initial hurdles associated with this new way to meditate. We also think it will continue to be a useful training tool, for those who connect with these out-loud, interactive, peer-2-peer practices.
And what’s perhaps most exciting about this project, is that there are many people–so-called extroverts–who would never, in a million years, consider meditating silently by themselves. In fact, they would rather be electrically shocked than left alone with their thoughts. With Multiplayer Meditation, these same people now have a way in to the practice of meditation that actually suits them!
